7. Slithering Paper Plate Snake

7

Snakes are a fantastic way to explore patterns and colors. This craft lets kids get creative with designs while making a snake that can “slither” around the house.

Materials: Paper plate, green and yellow construction paper or paint, glue, scissors, googly eyes, red felt or paper (for the tongue), markers.

Instructions: Cut the paper plate into a spiral shape to create the snake’s body. Paint or cover it with green construction paper. Add patterns like stripes or spots using markers or cut-out shapes. Glue on googly eyes at one end and a red felt tongue. For a 3D effect, accordion-fold the spiral slightly so the snake can stand up.

Time: 20 minutes | Difficulty: Easy to Moderate | Tip: Make the snake extra long by taping two spirals together.

💡 Pro Tip: Use a hole punch to add a string to the head so the snake can “hang” from a doorknob or shelf.
