7. Corner Floating Shelves

Corners are the most underutilized areas in any home. Standard furniture rarely fits into them properly, leaving valuable space wasted. DIY corner floating shelves are specifically designed to reclaim these awkward junctions, making them perfect for displaying books, art, or small indoor plants in tight living rooms or bedrooms.
You can construct these triangular shelves using thick plywood or pine boards. Cut the wood into right-angled triangles that fit snugly into your specific corner. To support the weight, screw thin wooden cleat strips directly into the wall studs along both sides of the corner. Slide your triangular wooden shelf over these cleats and secure it with finish nails from the top. Paint the shelves the same color as your walls for a seamless, built-in look, or stain them dark to create a striking architectural feature that draws the eye upward.
