6. Faux Marble Coasters

Marble is timeless, but it’s also heavy and expensive. You can get the same look using white ceramic tiles from the hardware store and some “marble” contact paper from the dollar store. These make excellent housewarming gifts!

  • Materials Needed:
    • 4×4 white ceramic tiles
    • Marble-patterned contact paper
    • Felt pads (for the bottom)
    • X-Acto knife or scissors
  • Steps:
    • Clean the tiles to remove any dust.
    • Cut a square of contact paper slightly larger than the tile.
    • Peel and stick the paper onto the tile, smoothing out air bubbles with a credit card.
    • Fold the edges over or trim them flush with the X-Acto knife.
    • Add felt pads to the four corners of the bottom so they don’t scratch your table.

Pro Tip: Swipe a bit of clear nail polish or sealant along the edges of the paper to prevent it from peeling over time.
